Our friends love nature so I chose a neutral leaf print for the back and used a tree bark looking fabric for the hinges and binding. I also incorporated a few fabrics with special meanings and I finished the quilt off by machine embroidering the family's last name onto a strip in the corner of the quilt.
When the quilt was finished I washed and dried it in the washing machine, to make the fabric softer and crinkly. I love the wonderfully warm and homey feel of the finished quilt.
I think it looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt! Now I know what to do with a confusing array of fabric scraps.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Rebekah! You are so talented, and have a great eye for color and design.
ReplyDeleteHolly, I think you would love the quilt-as-you-go method, maybe I can show you the technique when I'm back in PA.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Taryn!
